About TCG Motorsport

Helping to put something back into a great sport

Like a lot of great ideas, the concept for TCG Motorsport was the result of what began as idle chat over a few beers in a pub!

Many of us imagine that we could be the next Barry Sheene, and when we’re too old for that to happen we dream of discovering the next Valentino Rossi, or running a MotoGP team. For almost all of us, that’s as far is it goes but for Team Principals Chris Martin and Gavin Wheeler a determination to realise their dream led to the establishment of TCG Motorsport in 2005.

Chris and Gavin set up TCG to identify and maximise the potential of young and talented motorcycle racers, with the ultimate goal of competing at National or International level.

Many riders start racing at club level with the raw ability to ride fast but become distracted by all the hassles of bike preparation, repairs, maintenance, set-up and logistics, to the extent that the racing ends up taking second place to everything else. Inevitably their performance on track suffers as a consequence.

TCG Motorsport provides a support structure that allows its riders to focus exclusively on their performance in the race, with everything else taken care of, from bike preparation through to helping with race set up and all the small things like making sure there is enough fuel in the bike for the next race.

2005 - TCG helped Tom Gazzard to achieve 3rd place in the BMCRC Rookie 600 championship, a remarkable achievement given Toms job in the RAF, a position he could not have achieved without the help of the team, and Stewart Willetts to 7th place in the BMCRC Clubman 1000 series.

2006 - TCG Motorsport welcomed new rider David Hallett into the team, racing in the MRO MiniTwins class.
TCG also continue to work extensively with Stewart Willetts in the Forze Extreme and Clubman 1000 championship.

2007 - TCG Motorsport in association with Hawk Kawasaki, a well-established and respected British Superbike team, created the “Junior” team to support Dave Hallett in the National Superstock Cup on board a Kawasaki ZX10 and Alex Camier in the British Super Sport cup on a Kawasaki ZX6-R, these championships taking place at the British Superbike rounds.
