The people at TCG Motorsport
Gavin Wheeler - Team Principal
Like most team principals Gavin has raced himself.
Gavin's first entry into motorcycle racing started dong track days on a Yamaha RD350LC YPVS and a Kawasaki KR1-S.
Gavin then took up stage rallying in a fully tuned Lotus Sunbeam. He had many successes, but struggled with a small budget compared to the other teams despite the help of some good sponsors. The rally car was eventually sold to help buy a house to hold his now growing family.
In 2003 he returned to the motorcycle racing scene, and entered the BMCRC Nationwide Rookie 600 championship on a Yamaha YZF-R6.
The following year he raced in the completive BMCRC MiniTwins championship on an ex-SDC bike.
After a successful year racing and helping other riders, Gavin
turned his endless talent to establishing a team to support a young riders in 2005 and the future, culminating with the formation of TCG Motorsport in conjunction with Chris Martin.
Chris Martin - Team Principal
Chris first became involved in motorcycle racing in 1984, when he used to help with a race bike for a friend, but his track debut as a racer came in 1988 aboard a Yamaha RD350LC YPVS.
During the next two seasons he won a few races, crashed several times and had loads of fun! This continued through to 1990 when Chris switched to a Kawasaki KR1-S. 1991 soon arrived, along with a mortgage so he raced an old RD350LC as and when finance was available through to 1992.
Family commitments forced Chris to stay out of racing for the next few years until 2003. Since then he has entered races when time and finance allows but has been more involved in the pits, preparing bikes & giving support and advice to other riders especially in the 2005 season when TCG Motorsport was first set up with the sole aim of helping young riders into the sport.
